英語で授業をする先生のために、また英語で授業を受ける方のために役に立つ簡単なクラスルーム表現を集めてみました。
私も大学により英語で授業をすることもあるので、調べながらいい勉強になりました。
１）クラスの最初に言う挨拶 Greetings and Welcome:
まあこれはいろいろな表現がありますが。。
“Hello, class! I hope you’re all doing well today.”
そういえば
なんて聞くと、
とお決まりの答えをする生徒たちが多いです。
Okay(まあまあ)
Tired.
などいろいろな言い方があるんよ～と教えてあげます。
２）出席をとる Attendance and Roll Call:
“I’m going to check attendance. Let me know if you’re here.”
出欠ををるときに、〇〇くん！というと
という人が多いですが、出席をとるときの、“はい” “Here”です。
３）今日は～をします 導入 Introduction to the Day’s Topic:
“Our focus for today’s class will be…”
４）前にやったことの復習 Review of Previous Material:
“Can anyone remind the class what we discussed in our last session？”
（笑えるのは、１週間前のことなのに、？？？？とすっかり忘れている学生が多いこと。忙しいのかな？）
５）クラスをスタートするための指示 Instructions for Starting Activities
“Look at the board/screen.”:
“Let’s review yesterday’s lesson.”:
“Please form groups of…”〇人のグループを作ってください。
“Let’s get started!”
６）クラス運営のための指示 Instructions for Classroom Management
“Settle down, please.”:
“Can everyone hear me?”
７）教材への取り組み方への指示 Instructions for Engaging with Material
“Summarize the text in your own words.”
“Compare and contrast these ideas.”
“Predict what happens next.”
“Draw a diagram to illustrate this concept.”
８）教室でのインターアクションに関する指示 Instructions for Classroom Interaction
“Any volunteers?”（誰かできる人？）
“Please elaborate on that.”
“Let’s take turns.”
“Reflect on your learning.”（学んだことを振り返りましょう）
Volunteersという言葉も、みんな、ポカーンとします。
何か困った人のために奉仕をすることのみに使われると思っているのですね。
自主的に答えるとか、作業をするという意味もあることを伝えると驚いた表情をします。
９）クラスの最後の指示 Instructions for Ending Activities
“Hand in your assignments.”
“Let’s recap what we’ve learned today.”
“Prepare for the next class by…
“Don’t forget to review for the test.”
“That’s all for today.”
“ I’ll see you next 〇〇”
